Moonlight Graham's Umbrella

Jon Lester, as he walked off the mound at Fenway Park last Saturday, was booed so heavily that some Red Sox fans on Twitter were saying they wouldn’t even boo a Yankee that loudly. It was a sad sight. Lester, Boston’s 28-year-old left-hander who entered this season having won 65 games in four years, had just relinquished 11 earned runs to the Toronto Blue Jays in four-plus innings. Stone-faced, he walked somberly to the dugout and then sat dejected as the crowd grumbled. This was the tip of his iceberg, the outing that exemplified how dreadful his nightmarish 2012 season has been. What’s wrong with him?
