A Mandate That Violence at Los Angeles Sports Events Has To Stop

Today Judge George Lomeli ordered that Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood be tried for the near-fatal beating of Bryan Stow at Dodger Stadium.  It is a sad state of affairs when it take something as serious is what happened to Bryan Stow to let the officials that run the sports events in Los Angeles to know that violence has become a problem and that the fans will no longer tolerate it.

As a journalist, radio host, and blogger, I have seen too much violence at all levels of sports in Los Angeles.  I have not visited Dodger Stadium in nearly three years since having my own frightening experience.  I was attending a D-Backs game with a (male) friend who was writing for a daily university newspaper when  some people behind us started whistling and making wise cracks about gay people.  I had no idea, until I turned around and saw…
