One Man’s Journey to a No-Hit Experience

50 years.  That’s how long it took for a New York Mets pitcher to throw a no-hitter.

45 years.  That’s how old I am.

30 years.  That’s how long I’ve been going to baseball games without being escorted by an adult.

1 year.  That’s how long my daughter has been going to baseball games.

All three of them.

As the saying goes, “third time’s the charm.”

Only my ‘third time’ happened about 70 times before I hit paydirt.

Reminds me of when a friend took my family for a walk inside Gramercy Park’s lovely but key-gated garden (in New York City).  I never had a key because I didn’t live in the neighborhood.  Friends of my mother probably never thought a teenager or 20-something would even know Gramercy Park existed.   Did they even bother to ask?  Did they?
